If your A2P SMS messages are delivered without your brand logo or verification features, it likely means RCS is not active. Because RCS is a newer messaging technology, you must request activation from your messaging provider to enable it for your brand.
Your SMS provider may charge a fee to enable RCS compliance for your brand. However, at this time, there are no additional charges specifically for sending RCS messages.

Google initially partnered with a single phone manufacturer, Samsung, to launch RCS. Today, a wide range of devices support RCS messaging. Compatible brands include: Google Pixel (3, 3a, 4 series), Archos, BQ, Cherry Mobile, Condor, Fly, General Mobile, HMD Global, HTC, Kyocera, Lanix, Lava, LeEco, LG, Micromax, Motorola, MyPhone, QMobile, Sony, Symphony, Wiko, Samsung Galaxy (S9, S10, S20 series), Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series, and ZTE. However, RCS availability on these devices can vary depending on the region and carrier network. RCS (Rich Communication Services) functions much like WhatsApp, using the user’s data connection—whether mobile or Wi-Fi—for all messaging activities, including live chat and multimedia sharing. For RCS to operate on Android, support is required from the mobile carrier, the device, and the messaging app itself. Likewise, the recipient’s carrier, device, and operating system must also support RCS; otherwise, messages will automatically fall back to standard SMS. The technology relies on the Universal Profile, a global industry standard that defines the features and technical requirements needed to ensure consistent RCS deployment and development across networks. In the United States, the major carriers— Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint —created the Cross Carrier Messaging Initiative (CCMI) to establish a unified RCS standard, separate from Google’s implementation. To activate RCS on a compatible device (such as a Samsung phone using Android Messages), users simply need to follow the setup prompts within the messaging app.
RCS transmits messages using either Wi-Fi or mobile data. As long as both the sender’s and recipient’s devices and carriers support RCS—and both phones are connected to the internet—the service will function properly. When using a mobile network, text-based RCS chats consume only a small amount of data. However, sending large files such as photos or videos can use a significant portion of your mobile data allowance. For this reason, it’s generally best to share larger files over Wi-Fi (unless your Wi-Fi network imposes additional charges for RCS traffic). Keep in mind that standard roaming fees may also apply when using mobile data abroad.
RCS is currently supported only on Android devices through the Google Messages app (version 5.4 or later), meaning Apple users cannot access this service. In India, RCS is available on Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, and Jio networks, but it is not yet supported by BSNL or MTNL. The service is primarily available in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions.
